Alise grew up around/involved in the construction and home building industry from as early as she can remember.
At two months old, she attended her first Parade of Homes. As the daughter of a local Madison Area builder, she started reading blueprints in elementary school. Her first job, at 16 years old, was working in sales for a local lighting company. She continued as a lighting consultant while she attended college at UW-Madison (Art History), helping customers create spaces they were proud of. After college, Alise continued to work in the building and design trades adding experience in flooring design, surfaces, windows, siding and doors. Alise’s love of the home and helping others create homes they love, inspired her to become a real estate agent. Alise uses her past home building and design experience to give buyers/sellers the finest possible representation in our ever-changing market.
A perfect Madison Saturday for Alise:
Starts with a warm, sunny summer day at the Madison Farmer’s Market followed by brunch at Sardine with her husband and close friends. Include a day out on the lake or a bike ride on the Cap City Trail, followed by a picturesque sunset and live music at the Union Terrace, for a full Madison experience.
Alise is a kid whisperer. Children of all ages naturally love her and find comfort in her presence, automatically wanting to play and have her full attention.
Superpower she wishes she had:
Alise wishes she had the ability to speak/understand every language. What a different world we would live in if we could all communicate clearly with one another.
Favorite moment/s in real estate:
Alise enjoys the thrill of every victory - no matter how small - throughout the transaction. From the excitement her clients have finding a home they love, to hearing the words “your offer has been accepted”, to negotiating the inspection contingency, and even handing over the keys. She lives for her clients pure happiness.
Favorite Madison neighborhood & why:
The Marquette neighborhood. Beautiful Grand Victorian homes run along Lake Monona. Queen Annes and two flats are sandwiched between shops and taverns, along with unique and charming restaurants to make any foodies’ mouth water. Summertime in the Marquette neighborhood brings various festivals nearly every weekend. What’s not to love about this trendy, walkable, and eclectic neighborhood?
Dave is a native Wisconsinite and has lived in Madison for the better part of three decades.
But it only really became home for him in November of 2000, when he closed on his first house, a rough-around-the-edges 1922 colonial with lots of sun, not a lot of storage, and an enormous oak tree in its postage stamp-sized back yard. From the second he stepped in the door, he was hooked on the warm, rooted feeling home ownership gave him. His goal is to help you find that same feeling.
When he’s helping you realize your real estate dreams, he is a theatre artist, an aspiring home chef, a determined if under-skilled gardener, and—with his wife—happily busy finding room on the walls of their Eastmorland Cape Cod for the rush of school pictures they expect from their 2 recently minted Madison Metropolitan School District kids.
A perfect Madison Saturday for Dave:
Is almost entirely unplanned. No chores on the list. No errands to run. NPR quiz shows or WORT’s “Entertainment” on the radio. If it’s Badger football season, we might head to the Harmony to let the kids roll a cue ball on the pool table while we watch the game with friends. Or we’ll light a grill in and invite friends by for an impromptu barbeque. Or meet them at the Biergarten at Olbrich Park. Frankly, the places don’t really matter. What matters are the people—the friends and family—that will be there. Enjoying Madison.
Making friends with dogs. I don’t think I’ve ever met a dog who didn’t end up liking me. Bring me a dog. I’ll prove it.
Superpower he wishes he had:
Time travel. To see how history really looked, not just the things we choose to remember. And to know whether the flying cars ever really happen.
Favorite moment/s in real estate:
The call to tell a client they have an accepted offer. The happiness (and sometimes relief) of knowing they have finally landed their home…or sold one they needed to sell. It’s easy to forget that buying or selling a home is often one of the biggest things people will do. So much time, effort, stress and uncertainty is involved. To help them through that is a great feeling.
Favorite Madison neighborhood & why:
My own, Eastmorland. I love the post-war suburban houses, the mix and friendliness of the neighbors, the feeling of community. It is convenient to much of the best of Madison’s eastside, without being right in the middle of the hubbub, so to speak. Plus, given how close it is to Lake Monona, there is an amazing amount of unexpected wild life….wild turkeys, hawks, countless song birds, even the occasional owl, fox or coyote. Five years ago, I barely knew it existed. Today, it would take an awful lot to get me to leave.
Jessica is the founding Realtor of Roost Realty. She began her career in 2007 & is grateful to have established herself during the Great Recession, as it provided countless opportunities to learn the industry inside out & refine her client offerings.
Jessica has lived all over Madison. She enjoys exploring the city's nooks & crannies by car, foot & bike. Not only can she tell you where to get the best cup of tea or slice of pie, she's got the inside scoop on the city's most beautiful streets to run/walk, best hidden parks & little known facts.
Jessica's super power: Jessica has a knack for finding the silver lining in just about anything.
Superpower she wishes she had: She wishes she could physically show people what she sees in her mind's eye, be it a physical thing or a potential outcome.
Her ideal Madison adventure: Jessica's perfect day would begin by biking to the Dane County Farmers Market with her family to grab a bouquet of fresh cut flowers & a warm loaf of Stella's Hot Spicy Cheese Bread while sipping a cup of coffee in the outdoor seating at Michaelango's. Next, they would head to Willy Street to check out what's new at Hatch Art House, Pieces Unimagined, Rick's Old Gold & Saint Vinnie's. A low key afternoon of gardening & reading would be followed by another bike ride to the Tempest Oyster Bar for food and drinks.
Favorite neighborhood, and why? Jessica loves a handful of neighborhoods for different reasons. For its winding, tree lined streets & architecture, it's University Heights & Shorewood Hills. For shopping, it's the Marquette neighborhood due to the abundance of second hand, local & upcycled finds. When it comes to communing with nature, it's all about proximity to her favorite nature nooks: Cherokee Park, Kennedy Heights, Borchers Beach, North Lake, Orchid Heights, Middleton Hills, Crestwood and Parkwood.
Jessica is proud to have played a role in building a trusted & reputable real estate team. She is honored to have had the opportunity to work with & learn from Alise Wasserburger & Dave Pausch, who will carry the Roost torch as she takes a break to spend time with her family.
Jessica on Alise: "When I first met Alise, I couldn't help but ask her how old she was! It turns out that Alise is blessed with youthful genes (you know, the ones that make you look a decade younger than you actually are.) Alise's baby face & gentle demeanor is not only genuine, but also her secret weapon.
Alise has the patience of a saint & is kind to everyone. She's also a diligent researcher & a tough negotiator, so she's got this unexpected combination that helps her get the best deals for her clients. It's kind of this stealthy panther-like quality that you don't even see coming. My past clients put it perfectly after recently working with Alise"
"This is the second time I have bought and sold a house with Roost Realty, so I was already impressed by this realtor. But Alise exceeded my expectations. She does her homework, knows the area real estate market extremely well, stays on top of my many requests and requirements without fail, and displays expert negotiation skills. When a lower than expected offer came in, she convinced us to hold firm and we got the results we wanted. I would definitely recommend Roost and Alise to anyone who wants a smart, tough, and responsive home expert in their corner." - Bruce & Lisa Stein
Jessica on Dave: "Dave is hilarious & fun. He's an award winning director & actor in the local theater scene & can literally make anything entertaining.
Dave works tirelessly on behalf of his clients. When obstacles arise, he thinks outside the box to come up with as many solutions as possible. He is calm, cool, collected & says it like it is. He's proactive & always willing to go the extra mile for his clients, even over the holidays! Liz Pyatskowit said it well"
"...Dave was looking at possible problems along with positives.... Once we started the process of buying our house, Dave was on top of everything and made sure all the pieces came together. He went above and beyond to help us find a house and we would recommend him to anyone." -Liz P.
To my clients & friends: Thank you so much for your continuous support & referrals! While I'm not currently selling, I'm still here to point you in the right direction. If you're gearing up to buy or sell, I would love to put you in touch with a Realtor that best suits your needs.
